Ranch Road 965 heads north out of Fredericksburg through some of the prettiest granite-dome country in Texas, ending at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area — a 425-foot pink granite batholith you can climb in about 40 minutes. The road itself is smooth, lightly trafficked, and full of long open sweepers with big-sky views. Reserve a day-use permit in advance on peak weekends (the park fills and closes by mid-morning), bring more water than you think you need, and cap the ride with brisket at one of the Fredericksburg BBQ joints on the way back in.
