Ranch Road 32 climbs onto a narrow limestone ridge that separates the Blanco and Guadalupe river valleys — the Devil's Backbone. From the overlook a few miles west of Wimberley you can see 40+ miles on a clear day. The road itself is wide, well-paved, and full of gentle sweepers, making it a favorite Sunday cruise for cars, bikes, and convertibles. Add on FM 12 south into Wimberley and RR 165 west into Blanco to build a half-day loop, and stop at the Devil's Backbone Tavern for a cold beer and a jukebox that hasn't been updated (thankfully) since 1975.
